Jigging Soft Plastics on the reef!! Part 2

http://www.reefari.com More great jigging action with soft plastics out on the Great Barrier reef in this fishing video , The eskies were full and we made a no bait rule which was a great way to see how the jigging goes. It was an awesome day and the fishing didn’t slow down in Part II. So much so, we had to stop fishing mid afternoon as we had just caught too much fish. Jason got a big cod on a Big plastic grub, great to see something on these big plastics but more likely it’ll be a big cod, we prefer not to catch the large cod, as they can be tough to eat and they’re the big breeders. Unfortunately they’re very hard to release after being brought up from 50 metres of water. I would jig the smaller plastics such as the 7″ Berkely gulp Jerk shads, and we’ve had some great success with these in the past. We’ve also got some good videos coming on how to pimp your octo jigs and using the Berkley gulp plastics to help impart more action and even better results. Jamie got a nice Spangled emperor on the soft plastics on a Paternoster rig with a circle hook. It wasn’t a huge fish and was quite small compared to the ones previous, and was released for another day. Well worth trying some soft plastic jigs on a Paternoster rig, and I’ll be doing this technique a bit more in the future.
We pulled up stumps about 3pm and headed to the Reef, for a beer and a relax. What a day, The next morning we decided to have a troll for a Spanish Mackerel, Caught a couple of nice ones and then it was time for home, A Blinder of a trip and the fishing still amazes me how good it can be, It really was on fire. Well worth jigging soft plastics and will try use them more in future.
Make sure you subscribe with some more great videos on jigging with some great tips for your Octo jigs and how to pimp them up!!
