Jigging with Wire Assist rigs!! Sea bug Ocky!!

http://www.reefari.com When jigging with deepwater jigs, make sure you upgrade your hooks with wire assist rigs especially if Spanish mackerel are around or other members of the razor gang. In this fishing Video Lee Brake from North Queensland fish and boat magazine upgrades his Reidy’s Seabug Ocky with some wire assist hooks. This is easy to do and will help land those spanish mackerel when deep jigging reefs, or can also be cast and high speed retrieved. This will help save your jigs and hooks, but let you stand a chance of landing your fish.
The Reidy’s Sea Bug lure range is designed and ideal deep water jigging or shallow reef jigging amongst the Great Barrier reef, or high speed cast and retrieve amongst schools of fish such as Mackeral and Tuna, Also great for jigging for your reef fish such as Snapper, Coral Trout, Trevally and many other sports fish.
The Sea Bug Octo jig range comes in many styles, colours and sizes. These are great lures and very effective, check out our jigging videos with these Octo jigs and worth upgrading the hooks with wire assist rigs or soft plastics, and bigger hooks for even better results.

How to Pimp up your Octo Jigs!! Reidy Sea Bugs!!

http://www.reefari.com How to pimp up your Octo jigs shows how to improve your octo jigs for jigging on the deeper reefs and improve your hook up rates. Lee Brake, editor from North Queensland fish and boats magazine has been pimping his Octo jigs up with bigger hooks and Some Berkley gulp plastics with some Great Results. We were having a cracker of a fishing trip and with a full esky of reef fish, brought in a No Bait rule. The fishing didn’t slow and some quality fish came onboard still including Red Emperor, nannygai, Coral trout, Goldspot cod, trevally, and Spangled emperor to name a few. An unbelievable day jigging the Reidy Sea bugs. Check out this Video, but Lee shares some of his tips on using double split rings, a Larger Circle hook, and squid skirt with Berkley gulp 7″ Jerk shad which we cut down to fit inside the skirt. These Berkley gulp soft plastics are working a treat and I believe keep the fish biting and with the circle hook end up hooking themselves.
These Reidy sea bugs, Octo jigs are working a treat in the deeper water, we using the heavier 150 gm size in about 50 metres of water and with some great results. Well worth giving it a go next time you’re out on the reef.
It pays to use quality hooks, Lee managed a Nice big Red Emperor on the jigs, but almost straightened the hooks during the fight if you look closely in the video. The problem now is with heavier braid you end up breaking the terminal tackle, not the line, A great catch to get a Big Red on an Octo Jig and made my day. So watch your hooks, especially if using heavier 80 lb braid or more.

Awesome reef Jigging!! Great Barrier Reef!!

Another top day out on the water, and some excellant jigging the deep reefs of Mackay out in the Shipping Channel. This is only part of a great day’s fishing, but well worth checking out the great success on jigs. We had a good trolling session and landed several Spanish Mackerel on lures, but the boat traffic sent them deep, so knowing the fish were there, we got the knife jigs out, and proceeded to lose them, with no wire. We were seeing heaps of fish on the sounder down deep and decided to drop some jigs down. Well worth giving the jigs a go, you can see the fish are there but not biting on baits, it’s well worth giving Jigging a go. Bit of action on the jigs seems to get the fish biting, and quality ones at that. We did lose alot of jigs at the first spot to Spanish mackerel, so make sure you have a bit of wire, or wire assist hooks on your jigs. The berkley gulps are awesome plastics and love the 7 ” Jerk shads. We got some lovely Golden Trevally and a real nice estuary cod on the Them. I got busted up by a horse fish which smashed me about half way up, must have been a big golden trevally, just couldn’t stop him.
I’m becoming a big fan of jigging, so subscribe and I’m sure you’ll see alot more video’s on this,
Cheers Greg
